Santa Fe, NM to Sedona, AZ

I spent Friday traveling from Santa Fe to Coconino National Forest, where I would camp for the night.  On my way, I first stopped at Petroglyph National Monument...

(I think I've taken one of these thumbs up photos in front of every national park sign I've visited.  This one is especially awkward since I had to crouch down to get in the photo...)

Here's some petroglyphs on some volcanics:

Next, I headed to Petrified Forest National Park.  I really loved this place, but I hate that all of my pictures of the Painted Desert Badlands do it absolutely no justice.  I suppose I should start getting used to this, as I hear the Grand Canyon is nearly impossible to capture as well.  Anyway, here's a sampling:

Petrified wood as far as the eye can see...and I want it ALL.

I then took a series of self-photos in which I was very excited about the biggest piece of petrified wood in the park, but they all came out with me looking crazy or frightened...

See what I mean?  Crazy person.  It was about this time that Dan-O called and saved me from my madness (as usual).

But seriously, it was really big.
